DNS draws on ontogenetic movement patterns — the natural sequences of movement and stabilisation developed from infancy — to support improved control, stability, and coordination. Where appropriate, these principles are used to help restore efficient movement strategies and support longer-term function, always guided by individual assessment and clinical reasoning.
Like many chiropractors, our clinical foundation was built on established manual techniques, including diversified adjusting, sacro-occipital approaches, and the Gonstead method. These techniques focus primarily on joint mechanics and tissue-based sources of pain and remain an important part of chiropractic training and practice.
As clinical understanding developed, the clinic’s focus expanded beyond purely mechanical models to consider how the nervous system influences movement, coordination, and pain processing. This led to further training in approaches such as Torque Release Technique and functional neurology frameworks, including Carrick-based methods and neuroimpulse protocols. These approaches place greater emphasis on how the brain and nervous system interpret sensory input and regulate posture, balance, and movement.
